Facility and ATM search tool

UX Design | Web/Mobile

About the project

The aim of the project was to create an intuitive and easy-to-use search tool for the bank's branches, outlets and ATMs, accessible on both computers and smartphones. A key consideration was the use of responsive web design (RWD) to ensure an optimal user experience on different devices. Minimising the effective focus area was an important part of the design to improve usability. With a simplified interface, users can find the information they need quickly and efficiently, thus meeting the expectations of both the bank and its customers.

Used tools

Desk research, Competitor analysis and UX analysis, Paper prototype, User testing, Interactive Hi-Fidelity wireframe, Static Hi-Fidelity wireframe

Desk research

To begin with, I conducted desk research, which allowed me to gather examples of competing solutions, which I then analysed in detail. I analysed solutions from institutions such as PKO, Millennium, ING, PEKAO, Santander, BNP, Credit Agricole, Nest Bank and Velo Bank, both in web and mobile versions.

Competitor analysis and UX analysis

As part of the UX analysis, I focused on the functionalities offered by the competition. For the web version, I noticed two main solutions for branch and ATM information - they appear either on the map or in a side column, integrated into the visual layout of the page. Millennium Bank stands out for its clear and aesthetically pleasing visuals, and its drop-down filters for outlets and ATMs are very intuitive. In the mobile version, Millennium and Santander banks offer the most user-friendly applications, where detailed information about outlets or ATMs appears on a map or drop-downs from the top or bottom of the screen.

Paper prototype

I created an initial paper prototype of the tool, which allowed me to lay out the interface and features to be included in the final design.

User tests

I conducted quick tests with users (guerilla testing), where I assessed the clarity and readability of the tool. Based on the feedback, I made minor adjustments, such as increasing the size of some elements to improve their clickability.

Hi-Fidelity wireframe

Following the testing phase, I produced a 1440 px wide interactive greyscale prototype designed for laptops and PCs. The prototype represents the key functionalities of the tool and serves as a product MVP. Additionally, I developed a static prototype for smartphones with a resolution of 390 px x 844 px.
